We can all agree right that the touchpad is one of the most crucial parts of your laptop? Because well, if it suddenly stops working when you have no mouse in hand, you are in big trouble. Don’t panic though when your touchpad not working on laptop as there are ways to help you out with this particular problem.
The first reason that why your touchpad not working on Laptop is that your driver is faulty in some ways. Everything in your computer requires a driver. Peripheral such as touchpad or touchpad does too so it’s not uncommon for you to not be able to use your laptop’s touchpad if the driver is faulty or not installed properly.
Still, though, there’s no clear way of knowing if that’s actually what it is through this conjecture alone. To properly check why your touchpad not working on the laptop, open the Search and look for Device Manager.
This might seem overwhelming at first if you’re not familiar with it, but you really only need to look for the “Mice and other pointing devices” drop down and open that. That should list out all of your pointing device peripherals, touchpad included.

Disabled when a mouse is connected
Windows as with any other manufacturers can be pretty pretentious at thinking that they know everything that you wanted. This manifests in their feature “Disable touchpad when mouse is connected.” Being automatically enabled by default.
To make sure that your touchpad stays on while your mouse is plugged in, go to search and put in “Touchpad Settings”.
Windows will then open up the Settings and there you will see a little checkbox with “Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected” unchecked. Check that box, and boom, your touchpad should be working now.
